Dying Breed formed in February, 2004, with members, Matt Barfield on vocals, Sean Wade on guitar, Jimmy Williams on bass, and Chris Price on drums. In December, 2006, Jimmy Williams re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy to fulfill his service to our country. Dying Breed looked hard to fulfill the enormous void left by Jimmy Williams departure. In late December, 2006, Dying Breed found their new bassist, Jason Clark. To many fans of Dying Breed, the new bassist was quite familiar. Jason Clark had played bass for Virgin Mary, a band formed by Clark and Barfield, Wade and Price back in the early 90’s, while the four were in high-school.
The members of Dying Breed have been a part of the Tidewater, Virginia music scene since the early 90’s, having played in various bands, often times playing together, or with various other local talented musicians. With over ten years of musical collaboration, the members of Dying Breed have withstood the always changing musical scene, and have an unbreakable bond.
The members of Dying Breed have achieved, through out their lengthy career as members of Dying Breed and other bands, many accolades, including performing over forty shows a year, five full-length albums and countless demos, and various local and national awards and recognition. The members of Dying Breed have earned various accolades and honors from various musical sources including, winning Jim B.E.A.M. Band Grant, Route One South Musical Conference, Halo Guitars, and many other from leaders in the musical field. Matt Barfield had even had the honor of recording a song for NASA’s educational program for young kids.
Dying Breed has had the honor of sharing the stage with many national acts, such as, L.A. Guns, Bullet Boys, George Lynch, Pat Travers, Revery, Agents of the Sun, NonPoint, Stuck MoJo, Beaten Back To Pure, and Fozzy.
The members of Dying Breed have also been fortunate to work with amazing producers, such as, Drew Mazurek, Paul Cobb, and Todd Washburn, and even have had the opportunity to be surrounded by many talented managers, like, Anderson Entertainment.
